Le Régulateur is a modern timepiece created in collaboration between Louis Erard, a Swiss mechanical watch brand, and local architect and design studio atelier oi. The watch reflects the best of timepiece making and architecture in a sleek and modern design.
Its most captivating feature is the face itself. The designers aimed to reject what a watch face should look like by exploring all three dimensions in a linear design. Le Régulateur’s face transforms the radial tradition of mechanical timekeeping into a linear one. The three hands are split across a vertical axis to create a dynamic design. It introduces multiple points on the watch’s face where lines emerge, resulting in an engraved asymmetrical surface. Moreover, the watch’s face plays with the notion of line and shadows.
