Met Gala, the fund-raising event for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City, is conducted every year by Vogue. The walks of models, actors, designers, musicians, and other popular faces leave behind a sensation about extravagant & visionary dresses along with endless gossip. The Met Gala 2023 witnessed some ever-stunning outfits that brought the wearers to the limelight. But as always, the pathetic attire list was not left empty either.

Though this year, many stuck to the Met Gala 2023 theme, others seemed botherless of being innovative. Overall, the red carpet walks were full of white & black combos. 

About Met Gala 2023 Theme

This year’s theme was “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” in remembrance of the late designer Karl Lagerfeld. He served the fashion industry with incredible work and was appointed as a designer at many big brands, including Balmain, Patou, Chloé, and Chanel. After joining Chanel in 1983, he worked his entire life with the brand till his demise in 2019.

Met Gala 2023 Look of Rihana 

Rihana is undoubtedly a fashion icon in Hollywood, and she has always been gracing up the Met Gala Ball with her out-of-the-box fashion. Just like every year, Riri reached late but marked her entry covered almost entirely in a white Valentino gown. The convertible floral-sculpted piece covered her upper, including her head, and those dashing shades were the cherry on top. Her dress contained a lavish extra-long train. The two-in-one met gala look definitely was a ruler of the day. 

Nicole Kidman Met Gala

The Australian-American actress arrived at Met reviving her peach Chanel outfit, which she wore previously in 2004. Lagerfeld designed Nicole’s dress, and it definitely was a wonderful vintage pick to resonate with the event’s theme. 

Dua Lipa Met Gala Look

The pop star graced the Met Gala walk steps in a Chanel white tweed ball gown, which was originally worn by Claudia Schiffer in 1992. She completed her look with a Tiffany & Co. diamond necklace, which is reportedly worth over $10 million. 

Michaela Coel 

The lady was dressed in a dark brown crystal embroidered curve-snugged gown by Schiaparelli. Small to large-sized pearls, detailed neck, gold leaves- all combined to make her attire the best among the Met Gala attendees.

Conan Gray Met Gala 2023 look

Gray chose to carry a black and white high-collar Balmain outfit, paying homage to Karl. With the floor-length jacket, embroidered pearls, gloved sleeves, and an embellished tie, custom-made attire certainly brought royalty to the Met Ball. 

Bad Bunny

He wore a combination of elegance and dramatic outfit where the entirely white suit maintained the classiness, and the floral long train added some sophistication. The front of the dress carried subtleness, while the backless design on the other side was something more innovative and unique.

The Worst Dressed Met Gala 2023

Now, it’s time to have a look at the attendees who failed to make a praise-worthy appearance.

Lil Nas X 

His appearance was basically the entire body covered in silver paint, along with stones & pearls on his face and body. The silver thong was the only clothing he wore, accompanied by silver platform boots. He looked no more than a jewel turned human and thus became an obvious candidate for the worst dressed of the day.

Well, Jared Leto literally showed up wearing a cat’s outfit. He chose to dress up as Karl’s beloved cat. Though the cat was cute, the idea was not!

Kylie Jenner and Kendal Jenner in Met Gala 2023

The sisters are usually on the list of best dressed, but this year, unfortunately, their appearance was not up to the mark. 

Kylie’s red and blue dress didn’t match the event’s vibe and was too basic to be a Met-Gala-worthy dress. It included an extremely long train that could be used as an overcoat as well. But the design ideas failed terribly to stand as an impressive outfit. 

On the other hand, Kendal arrived wearing a black Marc Jacobs bodysuit with a stone-embedded collar and floor-length sleeves. The dress was nowhere near her previous Met Gala looks and, thus, hit the list of not-so-good outfits of the day.
